In Google Mail, contact labels allow users to create a group of users to enable an easy way to send an e-mail to multiple team members. To create a contact label:
- Go to your contact screen: https://contacts.google.com
- If not already signed in to your Central Unified Google account, do so.
- Find the section in the left sidebar called "Labels". Click the "+" button to create a new label.
- Create a name for the new label. This name is what you will use when you send e-mail messages to the group members.
- The label will be created and will be listed in the "Labels" section.
- Now you need to add contacts to your label. This is where you specify which people will be part of this contact label group. In the left bar, find the "Directory" and click on it.
- Search for a person to add to the group using the search box, and click on their name to open their information screen. Find the "+ Label" button and click on it.
- Find the label you just created in the list, click on it to select, and then click on "Apply" to save the change.
- The user's information screen will now show the label(s) you have applied to that user. Repeat steps 7 and 8 for all users that you wish to add to this contact label group.
- Go back to your e-mail and compose a new message. Typing the new contact label's name will allow you to select it and send your message. Please note that, depending on how much of the name you type, it may not always appear at the top of the list.
- You're all done!
